Gardening, Graduating, Going, Genealogy

The garden is in and already I’m fighting the pests and the weather. I’ve also started work on a pollinator garden and now I’m battling rabbits. Although maybe it’s just one rabbit, but none-the-less, my flowers are being eaten and I have got to get that under control immediately. Not that I don’t think rabbits deserve to good meal, but just not my pollinators. We have raised beds and fortunately, they can’t get to the other garden goodies. Those are certainly challenges in the world of gardening.

Lili turned 18 the end of April and two weeks later she finished homeschooling and officially became a high school graduate. The little almost 11-month-old baby we brought home all those years ago is now a legal adult. She was doing dual enrollment at our local community college and will continue there to get her Associates in Arts with a Concentration in Information Technology.

Next month we are going on our next cruise. We are cruising with friends, a few who have never been on a cruise and the rest who have never cruised with Royal Caribbean. This is a celebration cruise for many of us. Lili turning 18 and graduating. Naomi turning 16. Hubby and I will be celebrating our 40th anniversary. We’re hoping for smooth sailing and a great time!!!

Much has happened since my last post, including my work tracking my genealogy. I discovered that I am of European ancestry. Not shocking! What I did find surprising is that I am mainly Irish with several of my other ancestors coming from England. I honestly believed I would discover most of my ancestors coming from Germany. However, German roots was a very small percentage. While I had to go back to my 5th-7th great-grandparents to find my European ancestry, I discovered that the majority were in Northern Ireland. Specifically, Ulster. I am fascinated and have a big desire to go visit Ireland and the U.K. now.

I hope you’ll visit again for more updates, including photos from our celebration cruise.

So long for now, from the World of Weeks.
