‘Momcation’ *Edited*

Some of you may find this hard to believe, but I’m not super woman 🙂  LOL!!!  I try very hard to fulfill the role of super wife, super mom and super woman, but I’m human and being human makes the title of “super” unachievable.

The problem with trying to fulfill these roles is that I find myself guilty of not taking ‘me’ time.  So guilty, in fact, that I’m quite sure I don’t need more than two hands to count the number of times I’ve been out without at least one of the girls being with me.  And I’ve never been gone over-night from either of the girls and Lili has been home 3 1/2 years so that is a lot of mommy time.

Recently, Dave said to me, “You need to leave.”  Okay, he didn’t use those exact words, but he did express his concern over the lack of ‘me’ time I take.  And he’s right.  Yes honey, I just said “you are right.”  I need to take time for me.  I need to leave my house, by myself more often than I do and a weekend away to refresh and recharge would be nice from time to time.

This certainly doesn’t mean that I don’t love my girls or my husband, because I love them beyond words.  However, not taking time away to recharge and refresh doesn’t do anyone any good.  I know very few people who work a full-time job and don’t periodically take a vacation from their job.  My job is house-wife and mother.  That is my full-time+ job and I have not taken a vacation from that job in 3 1/2 years and it’s way past time that I take a much-needed vacation.

Because I can’t plan to just go somewhere by myself, I thought I’d steal an idea from my friend Megan over at Millions of Miles.  I just loved her idea and these moms look like they had a ton of fun.

Unlike Megan, I’m not brave enough to rent a cabin somewhere and put out a call for the first 14 woman to pay a deposit.  If we didn’t have this little thing called ‘adoption’ in our near future, I would be more willing to fork over the money for a cabin rental, but just can’t take the chance that I’m stuck with the full cost of a weekend rental.  And yes, I’m just not confident that there will be anyone reading this blog post who is willing to respond.  So, I’ll simply put out the call to all my mom blog readers who are in need of a vacation, or what I’m now calling a ‘Momcation.’  Just a weekend away with other moms who try to fulfill the title of ‘super.’

I’m looking at the weekend of December 2nd-4th, somewhere in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, or Missouri.  A vacation rental of some sort where we can talk, laugh, vent, cry, enjoy some good food, some good drinks, and simply be off the mommy clock for a couple of days.

If this sounds like something you want and/or need, please leave me a comment and let me know the best way to contact you.  There obviously isn’t a lot of time to planning time, so if you would like to be part of ‘Momcation,’ please let me know no later than October 31st and hopefully I won’t find myself all alone during ‘Momcation.”

*A vacation rental in Michigan has now been added to the list of possibilities*

**The Michigan location is looking like the most likely candidate right now.   Will share more detail once I have a better idea of how many moms want to be part of Momcation 2011.**

  1. You KNOW I will do anything to be there. When I first started reading I was going to suggest you come up here … then I realized everything I know to do locally is for kids 😦 But if it’s driving distance and low cost and I can bribe my husband I am completely THERE! Even if only for 1 night.

    • LOL!!! I’m sure we can come up with matching t-shirts 🙂

One of the purposes of a vacation rental is to help control costs. I’ve found some that would cost about $65 per night, per person. Not too bad in my book.

  2. oooooohhhhhhh so want to go!!!!! I unfortunately am already leaving to do cookie baking the weekend after and don’t want to impose 2 weeks, especially in a row, on my fabulous man. Take a lot of pictures so I can live vicariously through them please!!

  3. would love to….need a break…miss my friend and girl time. But I think we know the answer. Plus I would want to bring Jack with. Sorry I missed your call, down sick with kidney infection, isn’t life grand. Want an update soon tho! xx oo

  5. Everyone seems to be missing the most important point here – that this entire idea started in the mind of your amazing, loving, fantastic husband. I’m just saying…

  6. Debbie, you seem to be missing the most important point…..the entire idea was sparked by my brother-in-law; who appears to consider himself an amazing, loving, fantastic husband…..but, he’s just saying…..
