I found out that, although it’s just a little later than recommended, September is a good time to plant some fall vegetables. Root vegetables do very well in the fall and this weekend hubby spent some time cleaning up the garden and since I have packages of seeds, I’m going to try planting them.
On the planting list are beets, parsnips, rutabaga, turnips and carrots. I think I may have some lettuce and onion seeds. I might just put a few of them in the ground as well. Next month I’ll plant garlic.
For me, gardening is more than just producing food (although that is certainly the ultimate goal). It’s also about experimenting and learning. I’m now going to experiment and learn all about fall gardening.
What are some of your favorite fall vegetables?
I have planted some turnips. Hoping they turn out well!
We’ll have to compare notes!
