Judgements

I have a love hate relationship with social media.  Honestly, it’s more of a like hate relationship. It is a wonderful place for sharing information, gathering information, connecting and reconnecting.  On the flip side, many feel it’s a great place to share their views in less than respectful ways.

For example, I recently saw this on a social media site.

I also saw this.

A few days later I saw this.

These were posted by the same person.  Someone who thought the cartoons were funny, but at the same time expressing their personal views.  Views, that in my opinion, were judgmental.  It’s impossible that everyone will agree on the choices other people make or how others live their lives.  What I would like to see is a day when we can all agree to disagree in a respectful and non-judgmental way.  We are all living our own lives.  We’re not living the lives of others, walking in their shoes, or feeling the pain of their suffering.

What I can’t say is that I could care less about your judgments.  After all, I am human.  I have feelings and I have had people close to me judge me harshly.  Those judgments have hurt me badly.  To have anyone judge you or your life hurts.  I can only imagine what it’s like to have millions of people judge you.

This post isn’t going to change the world by any means.  For the most part, I’m venting with the hope that maybe one person will chose to be less judgmental of others and the way they live their lives.  If just one person would agree to respectfully and lovingly disagree, the world becomes a little bit better place to live.  At least I believe it does.
