Why is it so easy to find reasons excuses to not move forward with things that are so important?
I know I’ve been posting about change a lot lately and while this post is still about change, it’s more about looking forward with determination and taking control. It’s about letting go of things that are holding us back. It’s about taking a long hard look at ourselves and what is truly important, then moving forward no matter what.
Dave and I have been having a lot of conversation lately about changes we want to make in our lives. We’re both making positive changes to improve our health and physical well-being. It’s a good thing, it’s necessary, it’s life changing. However, there are other changes we want to make for our family. We feel these changes would be very good for us in many different ways and it’s exciting. Yet, it also brings concerns, fears, and uncertainties that cause us to tell ourselves that there are too many things standing in the way of making it happen.
So again I ask, why is it so easy to find excuses to not move forward with things that are so important?
This evening I was looking for some information on canning and stumbled across this website. Okay, I realize that making life happen, no more excuses and canning probably make no sense, but on this website I found this recent post as well.
The writer addresses so many of the concerns, fears, and uncertainties that cause us to just continue on in life instead of making life happen the way we want it to happen. She has challenged me to quit using money, time, and things as an excuse to not make the changes and do the things that are important to my happiness, my joy and my contentment in life. She challenged me to quit spending so much time worrying about what others may say or think, but to instead make the tough choices and do the hard work that is necessary to make my dreams and goals a reality.
It’s time to quit making excuses and start making life happen!!
And the next time I begin to lean on excuses for not moving forward in reaching my goals (because I know I’m going to slip up and being relying on the excuses once again), I’m going to jump over and read this post one more time as a reminder to myself that I can set big goals and I can achieve them because I deserve to have a very fulfilling life!!
Good for you!! There are so many amazing things we can do with this life, so many people we can bless, so many places we can go, so many challenges we can push ourselves to be victorious over. If we can first give ourselves permission to dream big and hold nothing back, then what we can accomplish in life is limitless. Blessing to you as you find your path in the new year 🙂
Thanks Kendra! I give myself permission to dream big on a regular basis. What I’ve not done a good job of is not holding back. There are some great possibilities for me and my family on the horizon if my husband and I can just keep our eye on the prize.
