It’s been several years since we’ve had a garden and I didn’t realize how much I missed it. Even pulling weeds isn’t as terrible as I remember it to be (and believe me, there are weeds).
Picking the Serrano peppers that are multiplying quickly now, checking to make sure there are no squash bugs or eggs on my squash plants, carefully pulling weeds from around the plants, and watching for more vegetables to ripen brings about a feeling of pure satisfaction.
Two things that make gardening even more special this time around are Lili and Naomi. Seeing the excitement as Lili checks her yellow squash and sees new growth or hearing Naomi announce loudly to me and the neighborhood, “I pulled a weed,” brings a smile to my face. Listening to them ooh and ah over the tiny green pepper makes me chuckle. Now, if those tomatoes would just ripen, it would be pure gardening heaven on earth.
Your garden looks amazing! We are finially getting some blossoms on the tomatoes. Some of the cauliflower is going great! Have a great 4th!
I am so envious of your garden. We are still working on a compost pile. And I am trying to grow a few things (starting in the house) but all but one died off. I have a black thumb unfortunately… 😦
