My memory fails me.
Maybe not so much fail as it is a glitch in details.
Here’s a perfect example.
Recently, one of my daughter’s friends posted a photo of herself holding a baby alligator. Since seeing that photo, my daughter keeps saying, “I want to hold a baby alligator.” Then I reminded her that she had an opportunity to hold a baby alligator but said no. Emphatically, NO!
Granted, this opportunity was 5 years ago. She is now a teenager and a little braver than she was then, but it was an opportunity none-the-less. I then reminded her that her sister held the baby alligator and that’s when I decided to look for the photo and I found it!
Now, here comes the glitch.
In my mind, this albino alligator was at least half this size. I was prepared to show my daughter the opportunity she missed out on and instead she looked at the photo, also expecting a much smaller gator, and said she still wouldn’t have held that gator. Afterall, I wasn’t the baby I imagined it to be – it was an adolescent alligator.
This photo was taken at the Sarasota Jungle Gardens and even if she still won’t hold this size gator, we both decided that we would go back to visit again. It was definitely one of our most memorable family vacations and hopefully next time, I’ll remember the details a little better.
